Healthier Than What?

I just read an article that was posted through a blog that I follow: Losing Weight After 45 is a Bitch. It is an article about how Wal-Mart is promising to make their foods healthier. If there is anything you need to be aware of out there in the vast abyss of food choices it is the word “healthier”. When you see this ask yourself the simple question: Healthier than what?

The only way to know this is to educate yourself on what foods are truly going to be a healthy choice. Retailers sell what the consumer demands. It is up to us to change that. Instead of jumping up and down and complaining about what they are selling, change how you consume.

The first step in developing a healthy lifestyle is to stop being a victim and take responsibility for your own health. There are myriads of healthy choices out there for you that are accessible and affordable.

I work in the weight loss field. I have come to learn that victims will never succeed in losing and maintaining weight. Those that stop blaming the world around them and take the responsibility for their own health are the ones who will make the changes and stick to them.

It’s not rocket science. Get educated. Eat healthy foods and take care of yourself. You don’t get a second chance at it.

oh my goodness. i love this article. I happened to be looking for blogs on 50 year olds and found you. I am 51...i take care of my 92 year old mom...we live in five rooms in queens, my husband, my 23 year old son, mom and I. It is challenging and stressful but I make it work and I work out in this enviornment as well as eat healthy. Im still a size 6...I say that humbly...not to brag..but it takes work...I see people all the time who are taking diabetis meds and cholesterol meds and are then putting reddi whip on their icecream every night. it is responsibility and hard work. My husband ecouraged me in the beginning of the year to begin a blog also. www.50plusstickingtogether.blogspot.com
it is just therapy for me to give me something to distract my day from mom and I am having so much fun...I also have done three blogtalk radio shows and my last one was monday and the topic was it is never to late to fulfill a dream. I would love to get more 50 somethings out there together to chat...again, i am literaly an amateur enjoying a hobby I actually spoke of my weight and size in this show. here is the link if you get a moment..
